PETER PHILIP KREHBIEL
Peter Philip Krehbiel, son of Jacob W. and Regina Schrag Krehbiel, was born August 19, 1898, in the home of his parents near Moundridge, Kans., and passed away on August 14, 1949, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 26 days, a few days before his 51st birthday.
He received his elementary training in McPherson county, later graduating from Hoffnungsau preparatory school.
Upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, he was baptized in his youth, and became a member of the Eden Mennonite church of Moundridge, Kans., to which he remained faithful until his death.
On May 8, 1921, he was united in marriage with Ida Kuafman [sic Kaufman], with whom he was permitted to share joys and sorrows for over 28 years. This union was blessed with one son and two daughters, all of whom are living.
He was deeply interested in the welfare of the members of his family, his latest concern being to provide a more comfortable home for them. However, the Lord saw fit to call him to his eternal heavenly home, a place far more beautiful then [sic] all earthly treasures.
From his youth he loved the church and had taken an active part in its activities. He loved to serve the Lord in song by singing with the various musical organizations of the church. He was always grateful for the song and prayer services in the home during his illness, by the members and pastors of the churches of the community. He had spent his life in unselfish devotion to his family and to the community. Especially was he concerned in the spiritual welfare of the members of his family, for even in his last remaining hours he instructed them to follow Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and example at all times.
He had been blessed with good health until 10 years ago, when he submitted to an operation. He recovered and again enjoyed better health for a few years. About two years ago he underwent another operation, and since then had been failing in health in spite of the bet medical care. throughout his suffering he was very patient and his cheerful disposition and strong faith in the Lord never weakened.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, and by his mother, who passed away only two months ago.
He will be greatly missed by all, especially by his wife, Ida, who was constantly at his side ready to help and comfort him in all ways through his illness, and by his son Howard Loren, and daughter Marlene Jane of the home; by his daughter Venita Loraine, and son-in-law, George F. L. Flasschoen; his grandson, Jacque Marcel; his father, Jacob W. Krehbiel; two brothers and three sisters, 10 sisters-in-law, nine brothers-in-law, and a host of relatives and friends who survive his death.
