— Mrs. Maria Krehbiel of Moundridge died at the Bethel hospital early last Wednesday morning. She had reached the age of 84 years.

Mrs. Marie [sic Maria] Krehbiel

Maria Krehbiel, nee Krehbiel was born at Albisheim, South Germany, June 6, 1842, and died at the Halstead Hospital February 9, 1927, aged 84 years, 8 months and 3 days.

Deceased came to America with father and family in the summer of 1852; settling in Lee County, iowa; her mother died previously in Germany.

In the fall of 1858 Maria was baptized by Reverend David Ruth and joined the Zion Church. May 2, 1864, she was united in marriage to Chris-B. Krehbiel. February 1868 they moved to Washington county Iowa, where they became members of the Salem Church to which church Rev. Galle was called upon completion of his course at Wadsworth, Ohio. In October 1884 they returned to Lee County, Iowa. The family came to Moundridge in the spring of 1891. They became members of the West Zion Church, of which the deceased remained a steadfast member to the last, the husband having passed this life nearly 21 years ago.

Mrs. Krehbiel was the mother of 14 children, four girls and ten boys the four girls and four of the boys died in infancy.

Deceased suffered much the past quarter of a century, being afflicted with rheumatism. Death was caused by a complication of ailments. Interment was made in the West Zion Cemetery. — Moundridge Journal.
