MRS. JACOB G. KREHBIEL
Mrs. Emma Weber Krehbiel, 89, passed away in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stan Weldy, in Naperville, Ill., Saturday, Dec. 31, 1955, after having been in failing health for several years.
The daughter of Peter and Christina Weber, she was born April 17, 1866, north of Donnellson, Iowa. Later the family moved to Washington county where she grew up.
She was baptized in 1880 by Rev. William Galle. The family later moved to Halstead, Kansas, where she worked for a time in the American Indian School there directed by Christian Krehbiel.
On Jan. 1, 1893, she was united in marriage with Jacob G. Krehbiel in Halstead. Soon after that they made their home in the Donnellson community where she lived for many years. They moved into town in 1912 living here until 1952 when they broke up housekeeping due to infirmities of age. For a short time they stayed in the home of Katie Krehbiel, Mr. Krehbiel's niece.
On Jan. 1, 1953, they observed their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Krehbiel passed away in June of 1953. For the next two years Mrs. Krehbiel made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Stan Weldy.
Mrs. Krehbiel is survived by Mrs. Stan Weldy, her adopted daughter, four grandchildren, one nephew; one niece; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in Zion Mennonite church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Harold Thiessen officiating. interment was in the Mennonite cemetery.
