PROMINENT BUSINESSMAN OF DONNELLSON, IOWA CALLED AWAY IN DEATH

Donnellson, Iowa. — Albert D. Krebill, 84, long-time business man and civic leader here, died at his home in Donnellson Aug. 28 after a six month illness. Funeral services were held at the Zion Mennonite church on Sept. 1.

A native of this vicinity, Mr. Krebill was in the general merchandise business here for many years. He was secretary of the Peoples Mutual Insurance Assn. from 1905 to 1949, served as treasurer for two years, and as president since 1951.

ALBERT D. KREBILL

Albert D. Krebill, son of the late Frederick H. and Elizabeth Rings Krebill, he was born July 29, 1975 on a farm west of Dover, Iowa and spent his entire life in Donnelson [sic Donnellson], Iowa and vicinity.

He died at his home in Donnellson on Aug. 28, 1959, after a six-month illness.

He was united in marriage with Emma H. Bank, Dec. 31, 1902 at Primrose. She preceded him in death in May, 1956.

One of Donnellson's most respected longtime businessmen, Mr. Krebill started in the general merchandise business as a young man over 60 years ago. Since the mid 30's he had devoted his business career to the insurance field.

He became secretary of the People's Mutual Insurance Ass'n. in 1905 and served continuously until 1949; was treasurer for over two years and in 1951 was named president of the association, which position he held at the time of his death.

"Al" Krebill served his community in many capacities and was an unselfish worker in many fields.

A member of the Zion Mennonite church, he was a member of the church board, and its secretary for many years; was a director of the Lee County Fair for many years and had served as secretary; was Donnellson Chapter Red Cross chairman for a number of years; a past member of Donnellson Board of Education; served several terms as Town Clerk and Councilman; was a member of the Lee County Board of Social Welfare from its organization until almost two years ago and served as board chairman; was a charter member of Donnellson War Dads, member and secretary of the old Community Club and helped in any capacity in any worthy cause when asked.

Surviving are three sons, Lloyd, of Ramsey, N. J., Woodrow of Dallas, Tex., Roland of Keokuk; one daughter, Mae (Mrs. C. R. Wolfe) of Donnellson; three brothers, Elmer of Billings, Mont., Edward J. of Donnellson and Wm. F. of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. B. J. (Elizabeth) Neff, Oaklawn, Ill., Mrs. A. B. (Lottie) Lowenberg and Miss Emma Krebill of Donnellson; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A brother, Otto C. and a sister, Clara, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in Zion Mennonite church Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Harold Thiessen officiating. Burial was sin the Mennonite cemetery northwest of town.
