HENRY H. KRAUSE

Henry H. Krause was born February 3, 1876, and passed away shortly before noon February 5, 1952, reaching the age of 76 years and two days.

He was baptized by Rev. Peter Baltzer on June 3, 1900, and joined the Alexanderwohl congregation the same date. After moving to a farm near Mt. View, Oklahoma, they transferred their membership to the Ebenezer Mennonite church of which he was member at the time of his death.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Margret Jantz on October 13, 1901, at the home of Mrs. Krause’s sister in the Greenfield community near Goessel, Kansas. They had the joyful experience of celebrating their golden wedding last October. During the last year he had been faithfully looking forward to the date when he would celebrate this great occasion.

To this union six children were born, three of which passed into the beyond before Father, Margret as an infant five days old; Bertha as an infant four months old; Alvin at the age of 22 years. He leaves to mourn his death his beloved wife, whom he loved to the very end; three sons, Herman of Poterville [sic Porterville], California, Ernst of Mt. View, Okla., Irwin of Peoria, Illinois; three daughter-in-laws and four grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

He enjoyed good health until about two years ago when he became too weak to care for the farm and the chores. Since that time he had failed in health gradually. A number of times he felt well enough to go about a little and then fell back again, each time becoming weaker. During the last six months he needed constant care. During this period of illness he suffered almost constantly due to cancer internally.

Separation is painful, yet we rejoice, because for him all tears and suffering have ended. We are not comfortless nor sorrowful as those who have no hope, for we know that if we remain true to Christ we shall be reunited with him in the Presence of the Saviour. — Mrs. H. H.
