Ohio Man Dies After 70-Foot Fall from Silo
Kidron, Ohio. — Internal injuries sustained in a 70-foot fall from the top of a silo proved fatal to Randolph Lee Kratzer, 27, of rural Dalton.
He died in a Columbus hospital on Oct. 1, four days after the fall while working on construction of a silo in the Loudonville area for Mast-Lepley Silo Co. of Smithville. The day of the fatal accident was to have been his last day on the job, as he planned to return to school.
Mr. Kratzer was a graduate of Dalton High School, and attended Bluffton College and the Indiana Institute of Technology. In February he was discharged from the Air Force after four years of service.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Kratzer, and a younger brother and sister, all of the home near Dalton.
The funeral was conducted on Oct. 4 at Desvoignes Funeral Home in mt. Eaton, with Rev. Bill Detweiler and Rev. Reuben Hofstetter of Kidron officiating.
