JACOB KRAHN

Jacob Krahn, son of Abraham and Mary (Fehr) Krahn, was born at Bloomfeld, Manitoba on Nov. 12, 1885.

At the age of two years he came with his parents to North Dakota and they settled in Waterloo township. He lived there until 1906, when he moved to Waldeck, Sask. After living at Waldeck for four years, he came back to North Dakota and lived in the Langdon and Alsen vicinity until his death on Feb. 28, 1950 at 10:20 a. m. His age was 64 years, three months and 16 days.

He was united in marriage to Maggie Penner in 1905. To this union 11 children were born, of whom five preceded him in death. In 1920 his helpmate was also taken from him by death. In 1922 he was united in marriage to Mary Spenst, and to this union four children were born, of whom Percy George preceded him at the age of 14.

In 1925 he had a serious accident which left him partly disabled the rest of his life.

He leaves to mourn his departure his bereaved wife; two daughters, Mrs. A. C. (Katie) Loewen of Alsen and Mrs. Leo (Mary) Gadaire of Rock Island. Ill.; seven sons, Abe and Bennie at home, Herbert of Charlo, Mont., Clarence of Wolf Point, Mont., Emil and Alvin of Omaha, Nebr., and Rueben of Dresden; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild: four brothers, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends. All of the children were present at the funeral except Mary.

In 1923, upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ he was baptized by Rev. N. F. Toews of Alsen. Later he transferred his membership to the Bethel church of Langdon and remained a member there until his death.

We mourn, but not as those who have no hope, for we know that we shall see him again.
