text of obituary:
GEORGE KRAHN, son of Isaac and Katherine Klassen Krahn, was born December 17, 1898, at Windom, Minnesota, and died December 23, 1940 at the age of 42 years and 6 days. He was baptized while a youth upon his faith in Jesus Christ as his persona! Savior, and became a member of the First Mennonite church of Lostwood, North Dakota, which he served faithfully until the family moved to Warroad, Minn. He was a sincere Christian and took active part in all activities of the church, serving as member of the board of trustees, and Sunday School teacher. He was faithful to his end. He was united in holy wedlock with Anna Heppner Dec. 10, 1922, and shared joys and griefs of their wedded life with her 18 years and 13 days. Three sons and one daughter were born to this union. One son, Alvin, died in infancy and one daughter, Rosella, in childhood, went before to welcome the father.
His health not having been very good the last year, he occasionally sought medical aid and on Dec. 17, he entered the Warroad hospital where he was operated on on the 19th for appendicitis. On the 23nd his condition grew worse and pneumonia set in, which caused his early death at the age of 42 years and 6 days. He submitted himself into God's will and bore all suffering patiently, although the pain was very severe at times. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord. He is mourned by his grief-stricken wife, two sons, Walter and Willard, his parents, 4 brothers and three sisters, and a host of relatives and friends who mourn his early death, but not as those who have no hope.
Funeral services were held Thursday the 26th of December at 2:00 p. m., at the Woodland Mennonite church of which he was a member. Rev. A. F. Ortman, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the Warroad cemetery.
