MAGDALENA KORNELSON
(Mrs.) Magdalena Kornelson was born to Anton and Marie Butz in Austria in 1890. In 1904 she came to Canada with her parents and settled in Southey, Saskatchewan. She war married to Fred Kornelson in 1909, with whom she enjoyed 67 years of married life.
The Kornelsons homesteaded and farmed in the Saskatchewan communities of Raymore, Balgonie, and Arbuthnot before retiring in 1964 to Swift Current. Mrs. Kornelson acknowledged the Lord Jesus as her Saviour at about 19 years of age. With her husband she experienced spiritual renewal in mid life and continued from therein to grow in her relationship with the Lord.
Her life was filled with love for others as revealed in her interest and kindness shown to her loved ones and many friends. Her optimism and sense of humour revealed her confidence in God and in those she knew. After a brief illness the Lord took her home on July 8. She was predeceased by her husband by two months, by two sons and three grandchildren. Pastor Nikkel officiated at a funeral service in the Swift Current Church, speaking from John 14.
She leaves to mourn her daughters, (Mrs.) Frieda Bakes of Regina, Alma (Mrs. Ben) Harder of Kitchener, Evelyn (Mrs. Wilfred) Reimche of Winnipeg, and Dorothy (Mrs. John) Conrad of Ottawa; her sons and their wives, Vernon and Frieda of Arbuthnot, Sask., and Wilmer and Evangeline of Clearbrook, B.C.; daughter-in-law, Leona, of Calgary, wife of her late son, Gordon; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, George Butz; one sister, (Mrs.) Minnie Linzmeyer; and many friends.
