ELIZABETH KORNELSEN

Elizabeth Kornelsen of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away May 13. She was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Yarrow, B.C. She attended Sunday school and church at Yarrow MB Church, where she accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member. She attended school in Yarrow, Chilliwack and Clearbrook. She worked for the Bank of Montreal in Chilliwack for 3 years. She married Don Kornelsen Oct. 26, 1952. In 1965 they moved to Winnipeg, where Don became manager of Christian Press and Bookstore for the Canadian MB Conference. They attended River East MB Church, where she was active in Pioneer Girls. She enjoyed being around people, and her home was open to guests and board members from B.C. In 1975 they moved to Calgary. In winter, 1976 they helped form South Calgary MB Church. She learned to play the organ. In 1979 they returned to Chilliwack, where they owned and operated Fraser Valley Custom Printers. She worked in the business for several years, making new acquaintances and friends. Broadway MB Church became her church again. In 1983 she became church organlist, which gave her much joy and for which she spent many hours in prayerful preparation. On Nov. 2, 1989 she was taken to hospital with an acute heart condition. She came home but grew weaker. She often wished she would not wake up in the morning; her wish was granted on the morning of Mother's Day, with her husband and children present. Predeceased by 10-year-old daughter Jane in 1968, she is mourned by her husband; sons Gordon, Robert and Jim; daughter Cherryl Plummer; and 6 grandchildren.
