PETER KOOP

Peter Koop of Winnipeg passed away Nov. 14. He was born July 28, 1909 to Peter and Anna Koop in Zagradovka, southern Russia. The family lived in various Mennonite villages. His father was murdered by Machno's terrorists in 1919. In 1929 the family immigrated to Canada, settling on a farm near Sperling, Man. He married Liese Martens Apr. 21, 1935. In 1945 they sold their farm and moved to Winnipeg, where he designed and built many homes , schools and commercial buildings. He was baptized and joined North Kildonan MB Church Aug. 15, 1954. In 1973 he retired due to health problems. He travelled and took a keen interest in world affairs. He viewed each day as a gift from the Lord and lived joyfully. He is remembered as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Predeceased by 2 brothers, 1 sister and 2 grandsons, he is mourned by his wife; sons Peter of Winnipeg, John of Mississauga, Ont. and Walter of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; daughter s Marion Buchanan, Lora Kaiser, Elfrieda Dupuis, Erika Hobson and Carolyne Wiebe, all of Winnipeg, Irma Kipling of Burnaby, B.C., Lydia of Mississauga and Marlene Lewi8 of Victoria, B.C.; 25 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 4 brothers. The funeral was Nov. 19 in North Kildonan MB Church, with John Epp and Victor Toews ministering.
