MRS. JOHN KOOP

Mrs. John Koop, a resident of Marion county, Kansas, for most of her life, died Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 1960, at Bethesda hospital in Goessel. She had been a patient there since May 16.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 12, at the Mennonite Brethren church in Hillsboro with Rev. Alva N. Cain and Rev. Marvin Hein officiating. Goertz Funeral Home was in charge and burial was in the Brudertal cemetery.

Mrs. Koop, nee Pauline Janzen, was the daughter of Cornelius and Helena Janzen and was born February 22, 1895 at Marion. She attended the Kreutziger school northeast of Hillsboro.

On March 27, 1914, she married John J. Koop, and to them was born one child, a daughter Frances. The Koops affiliated with the First Baptist church in Hillsboro where Mrs. Koop affiliated with the First Baptist church in Hillsboro where Mrs. Koop was baptized in 1923. At the time of her death she was a member of the First Baptist church in Newton.

In failing health since the death of her husband in January of 1957, Mrs. Koop left this community to make her home with her daughter in Newton. She became seriously ill about a month ago, necessitating her hospitalization.

Mrs. Koop is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Frances Donnelly of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Ben Ratzlaff of Hillsboro; two brothers, Sam P. Janzen of Kansas City, Mo. and Ed Janzen of Hillsboro, two granddaughters, and six great-granddaughters.
