(MRS.) MARY KOOP

Mary Koop nee Penner was born on April 11, 1905 in Olgafeld, South Russia, the daughter of John and Maria Penner. She passed away December 10 in the St. Catharines General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

In 1926 she left Russia together with her parents and came to Niverville, Man. She became a Christian at the age of 18 and a few years later was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Winnipeg.

In 1929 she was married to John J. Koop and together with him settled on a farm near Griswold, Man. In 1939 the family moved to Vineland, Ontario and in 1951 moved onto a farm at R.R 1, St. Catharines, where they have lived until the present.

She is survived by her husband, John; six daughters, Helen (Mrs. H. H. Koop), Tina (Mrs. John Sawatzky), Elfrieda (Mrs. Abe Hildebrandt), Marion (Mrs. Ron Willms), Margaret (Mrs. Rudy Dyck), Agnes at home; five sons, Ed, John, Arthur, David and Walter; and 18 grandchildren. The funeral was held in the Vineland Church with Rev. John M. Schmidt and Rev. H. H. Wiebe officiating.
