JOSEPH KOLLER

Joseph Roller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Koller, was born in Germany of Feb. 2, 1870. He passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1953, at 8:45 p.m. in the Bethel hospital, Mountain Lake, Minn. He had been in poor health the past year and passed away at the age of 83 years, nine months and two days.

At the age of 17 he came from Europe to America and settled at York, Nebr., where he resided until he moved to Parker, South Dakota. He lived there for several years and then same to Butterfield, Minn., where he resided until near his death, a period of nearly 60 years. He was a well known resident of the village and a follower of Jesus Christ.

During the many years he lived in Butterfield he was employed by the People’s State Bank until it closed, and since then he had dealt in real estate and insurance. Mr. Roller was never married and for nearly 30 years boarded at the John H. Harder home in Butterfield.

He is survived by four nephews, Henry, Fred, John and Albert Roller, all of Parker, South Dakota; three nieces, Mrs. W. R. Selby of Parker, South Dakota, Mrs. August Bartling of Lake Crystal, Minn. and Mrs. Elmo Moter of Hartford, South Dakota, and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Mennonite church in Butterfield, Friday, Nov. 6 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul Tschetter officiating. Burial services were held at the Rosehill cemetery, Parker, South Dakota, Friday at 3:00 p.m.
