PETER B. KOEHN

Peter B. Koehn, was born Feb 11, 1896 in McPherson County, Kan. and departed this life on Feb. 22, 1964 in the Axtell Christian hospital, Newton, Kan. He reached the age of 68 years and 11 days.

He grew to manhood in the Lone Tree community and has lived on several farms in McPherson County. In th spring of 1947 they moved to the Burns community.

At the age of 16 he had an experience with the Lord, accepting Christ as his personal Saviour. He was baptized upon confession of his faith on May 12, 1912, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, remaining faithful to his vows to the end.

On May 25, 1919 he was joined in marriage to Esther Unruh of Montezuma, Kan. This union was blessed with seven children. We shared joys and sorrows of life forever 44 years. He was a kind and loving husband and father, leaving us an example in many ways. His increasing interest in spiritual things was plainly evident in the last years of his life. He enjoyed good health until about five years ago. He was admitted to the hospital several times. For the last year or two his health was fairly normal.

On Sunday morning, Feb. 16, the family enjoyed the usual church services, and on their way home he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the hospital for special care and his response appeared favorable for five days. During this extension of time, we experienced reassuring evidence of his hope of salvation. Early on Saturday morning just before sunrise he quietly and peacefully passed away. He is survived by his companion, two sons and four daughters, Dorothy and husband Roy Becker of Galva, Kan., Walter and wife Leona of Newton, Kan., Betty of the home, Lester and wife Rosie of Burns, Kan., Marlene and husband Paul Koehn and Twylah and husband Clinton Schmidt, both of Copeland, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; five brothers, John, Tobe, Jonas and Edwin of Galva, Kan. and Vivian of Ingalls, Kan.; four sisters, Mary and Suzie (Mrs. Murphy Unruh), both of Galva, Kan., Alice (Mrs. Alfred Decker) of De Ridder, La., Della (Mrs. Harvey T. Koehn) of Lehigh, Kan., and many other relatives and friends. One daughter, his parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted to the Eden Mennonite Church on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in charge of Min. Tobe Koehn and Min. Carl Dirks. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
