MRS. REUBEN KOEHN

My dear companion and our beloved mother Alice (Koehn) Koehn was born to Frank L. and Susie Dirks Koehn on Dec. 15, 1908, in Marion County, Kansas, and died in the Lady Willingdon hospital in Madras, India on March 30, 1969. Death was caused by peritonitis.

In early life she with her parents moved to Winton, Calif. She received her education and grew to womanhood in that community. In her 17th year she was convinced of her need for salvation and upon confession of her sins and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she found peace with God. The following year, on March 11, 1926, she was baptized by Minister Jon A. Koehn and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, which faith she gratefully appreciated and faithfully adhered to.

In 1927 with her parents she moved to Montezuma, Kan. Here on Aug. 12, 1928, she was married to Reuben Koehn. This union was blessed with five sons and four daughters.

In 1935 she was called with her husband into the gospel ministry, conscientiously carrying out her vow that she would fully support my calling. The cause of the gospel and the church was her constant concern. In 1936 we accepted the pastorate of the Pleasant View Congregation, Goltry, Okla. She was deeply conscious of the fact that in our 33 years at Goltry the recent revival meetings and communion were the first at which she could not be present, being abroad.

Our togetherness as husband and wife was often interrupted during the past 25 years because of being engaged in gospel work. Having spent the last two winters abroad, especially the last six months have been very precious to us and we hope also a blessing to others in needy nations.

As a mother she was devoted to the well-being of the family. Though at times torn between being present with me in gospel work or present with the growing children, she chose the latter. This devotion was again manifested by her weekly correspondence with each child during the past six months.

In the midst of her very active life she was taken to her heavenly reward. She expressed her readiness to meet he Lord and enter into His eternal rest. We are assured of her salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband; eight children, Robert and wife Frances of Scott City, Kan., Lola and husband Harold Koehn of Montezuma, Kan., Joan [sic Joanne] and husband Robert Boehs of Goltry, Okla., Donald and wife Aleene, presently at Fugar, Nigeria, Verna June and husband Ervin Jantz of Chickasha, Okla., Gladwin and wife Judy of Goltry, Franklin, presently in VS in Fond Parisien, Haiti, and Dennis, presently in VS in Grand Rapid, Mich.; her mother of the Bethel Home, Montezuma; two sisters, Eva, Mrs. Emil Koehn, and Mae, Mrs. George Koehn, both of Montezuma; two brothers, Dave and wife Osie of Garden City, Kan. and Marvin and wife Frances of Copeland, Kan.; also many other relatives and fiends.

Those preceding her in deaht were one daughter, in infancy, one grandson, and her father. — Min. Koehn and Family.
