Highway Accident Fatal to Two Kansas Women

DOUBLE SERVICES AT HALSTEAD FRIDAY FOR MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

The mother and grandmother of two Grace Bible institute students were fatally injured in a car-truck collision on U. S. Highway 50-S west of Burrton last Sunday evening and passed away a few hours later at Grace hospital, Hutchinson.

They were Mrs. Pete Becker, and her daughter, Mrs. William Koehn, 48, both of Halstead. Mrs. Koehn is the mother of Innes and Glen Dale Koehn, both students at the Omaha, Neb. School.

William Koehn and son Dale, 19, were also involved in the accident. The father remains in Grace hospital with a compound fracture of the right arm, fractured left shoulder and other injuries. The son received serious face cuts but has been released from the hospital.

Double funeral services for the mother and daughter have been announced for Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Mennonite church of Halstead. Rev. Loris Habegger and Rev. R. Burson, pastor of the Hutchinson Bible Hall of which the women were members, will officiate.

According to reports of the tragedy, the Koehn car crashed into the rear of a large flat-bed semitrailer. Dale stated that no one in the car saw the truck in time to avoid the crash. The family was en route to Hutchinson, where Dale was scheduled to speak at the evening service of the Bible Hall.
