Services for Minister and Wife Largely Attended

Winton, Calif. — An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 people attended the double funeral service April 26 at the Livingston Church of God in Christ, Mennonite for Min. and Mrs. Kenneth Koehn, both 36, who were killed in a highway accident near Flagstaff, Ariz. on April 21.

Min. Koehn, pastor and chairman of the ministerial staff of the Livingston congregation, was well liked and widely known. Relatives and friends from a wide area, including a number of ministers from out of state, came for the services. Six young ministers carried his casket. Min. Daniel J. Koehn of Montezuma, Kan. who has served as a missionary to Nigeria, preached the funeral sermon.

The funeral for three-year-old Randy Siemens, adopted son of Min. and Mrs. Jesse Siemens who died in the same accident, was held at the Livingston Church on April 29.

Min. and Mrs. Koehn leave six children ranging in age from four moths to 15. The infant son was with them on the trip to Arizona and suffered a skull injury, later undergoing surgery in a Phoenix hospital. The family is being cared for by Min. and Mrs. Jesse Koehn, who are brother and sister, respectively, of Min. and Mrs. Kenneth Koehn.

Min. Koehn is survived by his parents, Min. and Mrs. Abe T. Koehn of Winton. His wife's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dave H. Koehn, also of Winton. Both also leave brothers and sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Siemens of Livingston, who were passengers in the Koehn auto, were both seriously injured but are reported showing some improvement in an Arizona hospital. Mrs. Siemens suffered a fracture of the leg near the hip and internal injuries, and her husband has a chest injury affecting his heart.

The two couples with two young children were visiting missions and churches in Arizona when the tragic accident befell them. They were traveling on the freeway near Flagstaff when a vehicle occupied by several Indians came down the wrong lane of the four-lane divided highway and crashed into the Koehn car. The Indians reportedly were being pursued by police officers and had entered the highway from a side road by running a "no entry" sign. — Reported by Noah A. Koehn.
