JACOB H. KOEHN

Jacob H. Koehn, son of Henry and Lena Koehn, was born near Galva, Kansas on March 30, 1877, and departed from this life at his home at Plains, Kansas on Sunday, May 30, at 10:55 a.m., at the age of 77 years and two months. He had been in failing health for over two years, suffering from a heart ailment.

He was united in marriage to Annie Schmidt on August 15, 1910, at Halstead, Kansas. He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife; four daughters and one son, Susie, Mrs. Ben Woodward of Bronson, Kansas, Lillian, Mrs. Ralph Schmidt of Wilmore, Sophia, Mrs. Martin Miller of Kismet, Kansas, Gladys, Mrs. Leonard Busby of Liberal, Kansas, Ruby, Mrs. John Kennedy of Hooker, Okla., and LeRoy of the home; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He also leaves two brothers, Jonas of Galva, David of Newton, and one sister, Lena, Mrs. John Koehn of Galva, and a host of relatives and friends.

One son, three daughters, two grandsons, one sister, five brothers and his parents preceded him in death.

Early in life he was baptized and united with the Mennonite church near Galva. On June 2, 1917, he transferred his membership to the Pleasant Valley Mennonite church near Kismet, Kans., where he remained a faithful member until his loving Lord called him home.

He was a loving and kind father and husband, always putting the needs of others before his own.

He suffered extensively the last few months, but never complained. He was always smiling and cheerful. He will be missed, but he is at rest with his Lord whom he learned to trust.
