FRANK L. KOEHN

Frank L. Koehn was born Feb. 19, 1885, in Marion County, Kan., the son of T. T. and Eva Koehn. He died Nov. 4, 1964, at his home in Montezuma, Kan. His age was 79 years, eight months, and 16 days.

Our father was a resident of Marion County until 1913. It was here that he received his received his education, grew to manhood, and was married to Susie Dirks on Sept. 28, 1907. for more than 57 years they shared the blessings and adversities of life. To this union five children were born. These all survive him.

In 1913 our parents moved to California. We lived there for 14 years. In 1927 we moved to Gray County, Kan., settling on a farm near Montezuma. In 1947 father and mother moved into Montezuma where they resided at the time of father's death. In addition to his farming interests he also became well known as a plasterer, and established an automotive tool manufacturing industry known as the FLK Co. He worked diligently at these trades and thereby gained the confidence of many people.

In May 1904 our father repented of his sins, accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour, and was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He did not win every spiritual battle, but, as is common for man, was buffeted by life's trials. His occupation often took him away from his family and home. Even though he was successful in his business pursuits, as he grew older he longed for greater assurance of salvation. His faith in God and his determination to be saved compelled him to urgently seek God's blessings for himself and his family. In 1953 God graciously blessed his heart with a renewed assurance of salvation. In this he lived and died.

In October 1952 father had a stroke. However, he soon made a reasonable recovery. One year later he again was stricken in a similar way. This attack left him unable to care for himself. Since May 31, 1958, he had been confined to his bed. He remained a patient in his home where he was carefully and faithfully cared for by our mother. Throughout his illness he maintained a cheerful and appreciative attitude. We believe our father is safely sheltered in God's eternal habitation.

The survivors are his wife, Susie, of the home; five children, Alice, Mrs. Reuben Kohen of Lahoma, Okla., Eva, Mrs. Emil Koehn, and Mae, Mrs. George Koehn of Montezuma, Dave and wife Osie of Garden City, Kan., Marvin and wife Frances of Copeland, Kan.; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joel of Livingston, Calif., Gus and Ben of Winton, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Enoch Dirks of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Mrs. Noah Koehn of Winton, Calif.

His parents, two brothers, Emil and Dave, one sister, Mrs. Isaac Dirks, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death. — The Family.
