• Mrs. Anna Koehn, 70, died May 10 at the Bethesda Home in Goessel where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was a native of Marion County and with her husband, John Koehn, farmed there for a number of years. He died in 1948. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Henry F. Goertz and Mrs. P. R. Schmidt, both of Newton. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church with Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor, officiating.

MRS. ANNA KOEHN

Mrs. Anna (Schmidt) Koehn of Goessel, Kansas, daughter of Peter J. and Maria Unruh Schmidt, was born Sept. 4, 1891 in Marion County, Kansas. She completed her elementary education in the Greenfield School and attended the Goessel Preparatory School for one year.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith May 30, 1909 by Elder H. R. Voth and became a member of the Tabor Mennonite Church.

She entered holy wedlock with John Koehn March 2, 1917. Elder P. H. Richert officiated. At this time she joined the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member. They moved to Dubois, Idaho to establish their home. Due to lack of irrigation developments they returned to the Goessel community and took up farming again as a means for obtaining a livelihood.

This marriage came to an end when Mr. Koehn died on May 30, 1948, after which she entered benevolent work in caring for invalids at Hillsboro and Newton, Kansas. She had been an active church worker, having served successfully as a Sunday school teacher for many years. During her last years she was unable to enjoy the best of health.

In March 1960 she became a resident of the Bethesda Home, Goessel, where she went to her eternal home May 10, 1962, having reached the age of 70 years. She often spoke of her desire to be with her Lord. She lived a quiet life and God granted her a quiet peaceful end.

Remaining to cherish her life are her two sisters, Martha, Mrs. Henry Goertz, and Luise [sic Louise], Mrs. P. R. Schmidt, both of Newton, Kansas, as well as in-laws, relatives and friends.
