STANLEY M KLIPPENSTEIN
Stanley Marvin Klippenstein was born in Pusan, Korea on May 18, 1955. After he had been placed in an orphanage at the age of two years, he was adopted by Donald L. and Elizabeth Klippenstein in July 1957.
Stanley enjoyed life and loved being with people. He participated vigorously in many activities including the Boy Scouts and the school band.
Stanley became ill on a vacation trip in July 1965. After the family rushed home, he was hospitalized and his illness was diagnosed as acute leukemia. he made a remarkable recovery and was able to resume normal activities for about 18 months. The first relapse occurred in February 1967. Since that time there were a succession of relapses and partial recoveries. He was ill much of the summer, but he took a great interest in his new experiences in Junior High this fall. Even though he had to miss classes because of illness he worked diligently on his assignments even the lat week of his life. His spirit of optimism continued and he still made plans for a future which could never be realized.
He took an active interest in Sunday school and church activities and was faithful in his devotional life, his last known prayer coming a few hours before his valiant struggle ended and he was released from the pain and suffering he was forced to endure the last few months of his life.
He passed away on Oct. 26, 1967, reaching the age of 12 years, five months and eight days.
Surviving to cherish his memory are: his parents, one sister, Shari, and one brother, Donald.
Funeral services were held at the Faith Mennonite Church, Minneapolis, Minn., on Oct. 18, 1967 with Rev. John Esau officiating. Interment was at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
