MRS. WILLIAM KLIEWER
Mrs. Mary Kliewer, daughter of Henry and Eva Gerbrandt Bartel, was born on Jan. 23, 1884, on a farm two miles north of Hillsboro, Kan. Here she attended French Creek District School and later the Hillsboro Bible Academy. Through the influence of her parents and the church she came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, whom she served for more that 70 years. On March 17, 1895, she was baptized upon her confession of faith and received into the fellowship of the Gnadenau KMB Church.
On Dec. 18, 1910, she was married to William Kliewer and together they made their home on the farm where she had been born and reared. It was at this time that she became a member of the Hillsboro Mennontie Brethren Church, where she remained faithful for more than 55 years. While living on the farm our parents experienced the difficulties of pioneering days, but the Lord based their labors and provided their daily needs. Three sons were born to them and our parents were faithful in showing us the ways of God and the salvation we have in Jesus Christ.
In 1946 our parents retired and moved to Hillsboro and enjoyed a more relaxed life together until father passed away suddenly in 1954. Mother continued to live in her home until several years ago when failing health forced her to move to the Salem Home for the Aged. Here she made her home until her death, which came after a long illness, on July 15. She reached the age of 82 years, five months and 23 days.
We are grateful for the blessing God has given us in the lives of our parents and are thankful as well that our mother has been relieved of her suffering and is now rejoicing in the glories prepared for those who have given themselves to God.
Preceding her in death were her husband, two brothers and one sister. Surviving are three sons and their families: Alvin and Minnie Kliewer, Kremlin, Okla.; Walter and Wilma Kliewer, Hillsboro; Ruben and Rosalie Kliewer, Hillsboro; also eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends. — The Family.
