MRS. KATHRYN KLIEWER

Mrs. Kathryn Kliewer (nee Rempel) was born in Watowan county, Butterfield, Min. on July 1, 1884 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rempel. She is the oldest daughter, having three sisters and five brothers. Her father, mother, one sister and three brothers preceded her in death.

At the age of 19 she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized by Rev. H. H. Regehr, joining the Salem church in Butterfield, Minn.

On September 26, 1909 she was united in marriage with David P. Kliewer at Munich, N. Dak. by Rev. John Enns. Two daughters were born to this union, Luella Kliewer of Dallas, Ore. and Leona (Mrs. Herbert R. King) of Guadalupe, Calif.

She was always faithful to Christ in her duties as loving companion and mother, and also in her activities in the church. At the time of her homegoing she was a member of the Grace Mennonite church of Dallas, Ore.

As long as she was able she always endeavored to lift someone’s burden, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ. Her life in the home was always an encouragement for she was a woman of prayer. Her aim was to bring up her children in the nurture and fear of the Lord and to do the Lord’s will. She repeatedly said that the Lord would not give us more than we were able to bear. The Lord’s grace was sufficient for her journey’s needs.

Her death was caused by cancer, which was first noticed two years ago. Her soul entered its eternal haven of rest on July 12, 1954 at 11:15 a.m. She had lived in North Dakota, Canada, Montana, California, Idaho, and Oregon. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two daughters, one son-in-law, three grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held in the Grace Mennonite church of Dallas, Oregon on July 15, 1954 at 2 p.m. with her pastor, Rev. John M. Franz officiating. A. ladies’ trio sang, "Where Could I go But to the Lord”, and Marilyn Goertzen sang, "My Home, Sweet Home.” Mrs. Arthur Dick played organ music.

We sorrow not as those who have no hope, for we know we will meet her again in glory some bright morning. "Blessed are the dead in the Lord.”
