ANNIE KLIEWER

(Mrs.) Annie Kliewer of St. Catharines, Ont. passed away on February 28. She was born on May 25, 1899 to Peter and Justina Dueck in Donskoi, Russia. In her youth she accepted Christ as personal Saviour, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. She married John P. Kliewer on May 16, 1921, and they immigrated to Canada, arriving August 26, 1926. They lived near Beechy, Sask. till moving to Beamsville, Ont. in 1934. Three years later they moved to a farm near Virgil, Ont.; in 1958 they moved to Virgil and in 1977 to Tabor Home, St. Catharines. She was predeceased by son John in 1943, daughter Helen in 1975, and her husband John on November 5, 1979. She is survived by son Peter and Violet Kliewer of St. Catharines; three daughters and spouses: Mary and Corney Penner of St. Catharines, Annie and Abe Willms of Niagara Falls; and Elvina and John Koop of Kitchener (all Ont.); son-in-law Clarence Nickel and wife Kae of Niagara-on- the-Lake, Ont.; 19 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and one sister-in-law. The funeral was held March 3 in the Virgil MB Church with pastors Abe Quiring and Aron Schmidt in charge.
