— Funeral services were conducted Nov. 26 at the Federated Church in Whitewater for Simeon [sic Simon] S. Kliewer, 60, who died Nov.23 at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital. Mr. Kliewer was a long-time mill employee at Whitewater. Rev. Louis G. Poppe and Rev. H. E. Miller officiated and burial was made in the Grace Hill cemetery.

SIMON SAMUEL KLIEWER

Simon Samuel Kliewer, son of John R. and Eva Jantz Kliewer was born on April 4, 1891, on a farm east of Whitewater, Kan. He was baptized on Aug. 1, 1909 by Rev. G. N. Harms in the Grace Hill church. In 1945 he became an associate member in the Whitewater Federated Church.

On March 6, 1912 hewas married to Anna Classen of near Whitewater. Two sons, Herbert and Wilbur were born to this union. The first 15 years of their married life Mr. and Mrs. Kliewer farmed in the Whitewater and McLain communities, moving to Whitewater in September of 1927.

Mr. Kliewer was employed by an oil company and service station for a number of years and went to work for the Whitewater Flour Mill near the beginning of World War II, where he was employed until his retirement four years ago.

Four years ago he suffered a heart attack from which he partially remained his health. He suffered another attack and was taken to the Bethel hospital at Newton, where he died at 10:20 a.m., Nov. 23, 1960.

Surviving him, besides his wife, Anna, are two sons, Herbert of Los Angeles, Calif., and Wilbur and wife, Arlene, of Albuquerque, N. M.; two brothers, Ludwig L. of Los Angeles, Calif., and William A. of Lancaster, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. W. C. (Naomi) Henderson, Newton, Kan., Mrs. R. F. (Alice) Penner, Hillsboro, Kan., Mrs. Ralph (Martha) Brackney, Glendale, Calif., Mrs. W. C. (Matilda) Voth, Newton, Kan., Mrs. Leo (Sarah) Voth, Whitewater, Kan., Mrs. O. E. (Regina) Schmidt, Newton, Kan.; two grandchildren Carol and Bradley, and many friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Federated Church at Whitewater, with Rev. Louis G. Poppe, and Rev. H. E. Miller, officiating. Interment was in the Grace Hill cemetery.
