DAVID G. KLIEWER

David G. Kliewer, son of Rev. Gerhard Kliewer and Elizabeth Janzen Kliewer, was born Oct. 11, 1885 near Inman, Kan. As a young man, he moved with his parents to a farm 10 miles south of Gotebo, Okla.

He was baptized by Rev. J. J. Kliewer and was received as a member of the First Mennonite Church near Gotebo.

He was married on April 14, 1916 to Marie Janzen at the home of the bride's parents, A. T. Janzen, northwest of Corn, Okla. After their marriage, he and Marie farmed 10 miles south of Gotebo for two years. They moved to Corn, where he rented a farm and moved his membership to the Bergthal Mennonite Church. Two years later he bought a farm five miles northeast of Clinton, Okla. in the Red Rock community, where he lived 40 years. He retired from the farm in 1960 and moved to Clinton. He moved his membership to the First Mennonite Church of Clinton in January 1971.

He died April 30, 1972 at the Clinton General Hospital at the age of 86. He enjoyed working and was active until two months before his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; five daughters, Carrie and husband Wayne Scott, Viola and husband Arnold Hulseberg, Ida Mae and husband Herman Jantz, Grace and husband Joe Folks, Mary Ann and husband Rollo McKenzie, all of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, C. J. Kliewer of Frazer, Mont. and B. G. Kliewer of Salem, Oregon.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Clinton on May 3 with Rev. Daniel Regier officiating.
