• Mrs. Gertrude Kliever, 83, who moved from Enid, Okla. to Wichita six years ago, died in Wichita on Tuesday. Funeral services are to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, followed by services at 3 p.m. at an Enid funeral home. She was a member of the Grace Mennonite Church, Enid. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Linscheid of Wichita; a son, Waldo, of Cleveland; four sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Gertrude Kliever was born Dec. 27, 1881 to John and Maria (Penner) Dalke. She lived with her parents on a farm near Lehigh, Kan. and attended the public schools and Rev. Henry Penner's school. She was baptized by Rev. J. S. Hirschler in 1898 at the First Mennonite Church at Hillsboro.

When she reached maturity she went to Oklahoma where she was employed at the Rainy Mountain Indian School. She was united in marriage with Jacob F. Kliever on Jan. 3, 1905 by Rev. J. J. Kliever at the Kiowa Flat School near Mountain view, Okla. To this union were born four children, two of whom died in infancy.

Their years were spent on farms in Oklahoma and Texas. They retired to Enid, Okla. in 1943. Since then Mrs. Kliever has been a member of the Grace Mennonite Church. They lived in Enid until March 1960 when Mr. Kliever died. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in December 1955.

Following her husband's death she lived with her daughter and family for a year. She resided at the Bethesda Home in Goessel for some time and at the time of her death was living at the Lessman Nursing home in Wichita. She became ill on June 3, 1965 and was taken to the hospital the following day, where she died on June 8.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harold W. Linscheid (Edna) of Wichita, and a son, Waldo H. Kliever of Cleveland, Ohio; her daughter-in-law and son-law; six grand-children and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Warkentin, Mrs. Helen Ratzlaff and Mrs. Emma Jantz of Halstead, Kan., and Mrs. Anna Brillhart, Hobart, Okla.; and two brothers, Emil and Henry Dalke of Halstead, Kan.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Goering at the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church at 10:00 a.m. June 10, 1965, and by Rev. August Schmidt and Rev. Albert Unruh at the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home in Enid, Okla. at 3:00 p.m. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Enid City Cemetery.

Mrs. Kliever will long be remembered for her ability to make friends and for her concern for their well-being. She welcomed both her friends as well as strangers in her home. She gave unstintingly of her time and energy to those around her. She was especially gifted in remembering the various relatives and did a great deal toward assembling and compiling the family histories. She loved her church and gave of her services wherever she could both in the church school and the women's work.
