Klein, Johnny (1918-1933)
Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1933 Aug 16 p. 4
Birth date: 1918
text of obituary:
. . .
— A general smash-up in which three cars were involved and the 15 year old Johnny Klein of Hesston lost his life, occurred on highway No. 81, only a short distance northwest of Newton, late last Sunday evening. According to a report by persons witnessing the collision, a Newton car driving toward Newton from the northwest, struck a car coming from town, then swerved over to the opposite side of the road and back again, this time striking the Klein car, which also was coming from Newton. Johnny Klein, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Klein of Hesston, was instantly killed while several other occupants of the three cars suffered more or less serious injury. With all possible care and precaution serious accidents do happen, but let citizens beware if liquor and all kinds of intoxicating drink are again unrestricted distribution in our country. Let's think it over.
