JOHN KLASSEN

John Klassen was born in Burwalde, South Russia. He and his family emigrated to Saskatchewan in 1925, then lived in Port Rowan, Ontario before moving to Vineland, Ontario in 1941. He farmed in this area for 31 years and was a member of the Vineland Mennonite Brethren Church. His wife predeceased him in 1971.

He passed away at the United Mennonite Home for the Aged in Vineland, where he had been a resident for the past several years, on June 8.

A funeral service was held on June 10 at the Vineland church. Pastor Isaac Block officiated.

Mr. Klassen leaves to mourn three sons, John and Peter of St. Catharines, Ont., and Daniel of Vineland; eight daughters, Helen (Mrs. John) Friesen of Jordan, Ont., Day (Mrs. Tam D.) Moody of Florida, Agnes (Mrs. Jack) Mussari of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Marge (Mrs. Michael) Merakian of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Mary (Mrs. Walter) Koop of Vineland Station, Ont., Tillie (Mrs. Kenneth) Hall of Campden, Ont., Lora (Mrs. Ed) Fortune of Beamsville, Ont., and Charlotte (Mrs. Jack) Willms of Vineland; 33 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
