JOHN P. KLASSEN

John P. Klassen of Winnipeg passed away on September 1. He was born November 27, 1902 in Spat, Crimea, Russia, the eighth child of Peter and Anna (nee Warkentin) Klassen. In October 1925 he came to Canada, settling in Waterloo, Onto He married Gerrude Wall on August 15, 1926. In 1927 they moved to a farm at Cuiross, Man. In 1929 they both accepted Christ Jesus as their peronal Saviour, were baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church at Elm Creek. In 1936 they moved to the Newton Siding area, where they again joined the local MB Church and where they were also ordained to the diaconate in 1945. They moved to Poplar Point, Man. in 1948, joining the Marquette MB Church, and finally retired to Winnipeg in 1961, joining the Elmwood MB Church. On August 22, 1979 he suffered a stroke.
