• Funeral services for John R. Klassen, 82, formerly of Newton, were to be held Wednesday afternoon at Goertz Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Don Bumgarner of Newton and Rev. J. W. Vogt officiating. Mr. Klassen died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge after a short illness. For some years he was employed at Newton lumber yards, retiring about 15 years ago. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church here. Mrs. Joe Howard of Newton is a daughter.
