MR. J. J. KLASSEN, 60
Mr. J. J. Klassen, 60, of Steinbach Manitoba, passed away on May 12. He was born in Russia on Dec. 20, 1903 and spent his childhood and youth there. He was married on May 19, 1925 to Miss Aganeta Martens and they became the parents of five sons and one daughter of whom all but one son and one daughter survive. The latter two died in early childhood.
In 1930 the Klassens came to Canada and settled at first in Manitoba. In 1933 they moved to Saskatchewan where they lived in the Swift Current area until 1937 when they returned to Manitoba and settled near Steinbach. Mr. Klassen farmed in this district for about 20 years, retiring to live in Steinbach two years ago.
Mr. Klassen was an active member of the provincial relief committee of the MCC and of the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church from which the funeral took place on May 15 with Rev. H. A. Regehr officiating.
He is survived by his wife and four sons, five grandchildren, his stepmother, two brothers, one sister and many friends.
