Mrs. H. J. Klassen

Mrs. H. J. Klassen, nee Eva Adrian, was born October 4, 1879 in Harvey County, Kansas. Here she spent the early childhood days during the often hard times of pioneer days, and also received her schooling in the elementary school of said county. In 1899 she together with others received cathecatical [sic] instruction under the Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert and the same year was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Christ and received as a member into the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, whose faithful member she remained until her departure.

In 1906, July 15, she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband, Henry Klassen. To this union 4 children were born, three daughters and one son. One daughter preceded her in death into the great beyond. Kathryn, John and Minnie are at home with their father. She was a true and loving wife and a kind and thoughtful mother. Often we shall think back of times lived together. Even though she was taken away suddenly, we submit to the will of our Master, knowing that He sees all things in his infinite wisdom.

For a few years she suffered from rheumatism and the last four weeks was afflicted with influenza, but not serious. In the evening she went to bed as usual, a few times the daughter Kathryn looked at her during the night and found her resting well, but when she went again to her bed at 5 o'clock in the morning, found that she had passed away unnoticed and without pain or suffering, as the doctor said it was of heart failure.

She reached the age of 50 years, 4 months and 16 days. We mourn yet not without hope, for we know that we shall meet her again with our Lord and Master in eternal glory.

The bereaved family
