text of obituary:
YOUNG FARMER OF MANITOBA CRUSHED UNDER TRACTOR
Altona, Manitoba. — Abram A. Klassen, young farmer of the MacGregor district and formerly of Gretna, was crushed to death under his overturned tractor May 9 at the farmstead near MacGregor. He was 25 years of age.
Friends from throughout southern Manitoba attended the funeral services Sunday afternoon at the Eigenhoff church, which was filled to overflowing. Only a year and a half ago, on Oct. 2, 1949, he had been married at the same church to Elizabeth Fehr, daughter of D. D. Fehrs, Winkler. Besides his wife, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abram J. Klassen, four sisters and one brother.
The tragedy occurred when Mr. Klassen and his hired hand attempted to move the tractor from a bog by lashing a plank to the rear wheels. Instead of moving forward, the machine turned over backwards and landed on the driver.
