Former Refugee From Russia Died

Pandora, Ohio. — Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church in Bluffton Dec. 1 for Mrs. Anna Schmidt Klapp, 58, who fled from the Russian Ukraine in 1928. The services were in charge of Rev. Alvin Beachy, the pastor.

Mrs. Klapp came to this county by way of China and Japan, arriving in 1929. She had lived in Ohio since 1930. Her first husband, Abram Schmidt, died in 1935. In 1943 she was married to Elmus Klapp, who died in 1951.

Mrs. Klapp died at the Bluffton Community hospital Nov. 28. She leaves four sons, two daughters, one step-daughter, and 14 grandchildren. A number of sisters also survive, including Mrs. Agnes Warkentine of Ottawa.
