Little Boy Dies Of Burns Suffered in Barn Fire

Lancaster, Pa. — A barn fire at the Amos K. King farm along Gridley Road near Lancaster Mennonite School on Oct. 3 claimed the life of the Kings' four-year-old son, Samuel.

The child was reportedly seen running from the burning barn, his clothing aflame. He died a few hours later in the hospital, having suffered burns over 90 per cent of his body.

Firemen with 16 pieces of equipment were assisted by a number of volunteers in fighting the late afternoon fire, but were unable to contain it because of a strong wind. The building was a total loss.
