— Harvey County lost one of its most prominent citizens in the death last Friday of State Representative Raymond King, 48, of Hesston. He and his wife Yvonne were among the passengers killed when a two-engine plane crashed near Loveland Pass in Colorado while carrying part of the Wichita State University football team, coaching staff and some supporters to Logan, Utah for a game with Utah State University. Mr. King, part owner of the King Construction Company, was prominent in civic and church affairs. He and his wife were both active members of the Hesston United Methodist Church. He had served two terms in the Kansas House of Representatives where, as a member of the education committee, he was co-sponsor of the legislation which provides for an alternate educational plan for the Amish and other minority groups opposed to sending their children to public high schools. Mr. and Mrs. King leave seven children. The oldest daughter is a student at Asbury College in Kentucky and the others are all at home. Double funeral services for the couple were held Wednesday afternoon at the Hesston High School Auditorium.
