BLANCHE ELIZABETH KING

Blanche Elizabeth King, daughter of William Y. and Mathilda (Fisher) Yoder, was born May 17, 1892 in Iowa County, and passed away at her home in Iowa city, Iowa on Dec. 4, 1964, at the age of 72 years, six months and 17 days. In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Mennonite Church, of which she remained a faithful member until the Lord took her home.

On Sept. 28, 1911 she was married to Alpha Ray King of West Liberty, Ohio. The greater part of their married life they resided on a farm near Parnell, Iowa. In 1941, because of her husband's ill health, they moved to Iowa city, Iowa where she resided at the time of her death, which was caused by a heart attack.

To this union were born three daughters: Nora, Mrs. Leslie F. Hathaway of Philadelphia, Mo.; Edna at home and Beulah, Mrs. James G. Koch of Reading, Pa., all of whom survive in addition to six grandchildren, one brother Omer J. Yoder of Wellman, Iowa, nieces, nephews, and host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Iowa City. She was a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years, and took a great interest in children and young people. Each of her days was an expression of vital faith in Christ both in word and deed.
