ADA M. KING

Ada M. King, daughter of Solomon and Amelia Miller King, was born near Aurora, Ore. on Apr. 18, 1897, and died of cancer at the Albany (Ore.) Mennonite Home on Nov. 17, 1981.

At the age of 11 she accepted Christ and was baptized and became a member of the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Cass County, Mo.

After living in eastern Virginia for a number of years, she went to Kansas City and worked in the Children's Home for about 18 years. In 1937 she went to Portland, Ore., where for 10 years she worked in the Portland Mennonite Mission and in private homes.

She then moved to Reedley, Calif., where she worked for the next 16 years for Mennonite Central Committee in the clothing center and at King's View Hospital. From there she moved to Upland, Calif., where in semi-retirement she was active in the local congregational program. She moved into an apartment at the Mennonite Home in Albany in 1979.

She is survived by three sisters, Carrie K. Miller and Della Culpepper of Chesapeake, Va. and Myra (Mrs. John) Kropf of Albany. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey.

She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of Albany, where funeral services were held Nov. 20, with Wilbert Nafziger and Clarence Gerig in charge. Interment was in the Zion Mennonite Church cemetery near Hubbard.
