ELIZABETH KEHN

Elizabeth (Koehn) Kehn, the daughter of David and Mary Unruh Koehn, was born in Marion County, Kan. on April 5, 1879, and departed from this life on March 16, 1961, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

During her last year of sojourn here her health was failing but she kept on anticipating new strength. First living with her children, she was finally admitted to a nursing home where she enjoyed her stay. She suddenly became ill and was admitted to the hospital where she spent her last few days.

She came with her parents to Oklahoma soon after the Cherokee Strip was opened and lived in the Meno area during the rest of her life.

She was baptized on Oct. 17, 1911 upon her confession of faith and joined the New Hopedale Mennonite fellowship, of which she remained a member until her death.

Mother loved to read her Bible and pray, but was handicapped in reading during her later days because her eyesight was failing.

She was married April 9, 1897 to Andrew Kehn, and to this union were born six sons and one daughter.

Preceding her in death were two sons, one in infancy and Clyde in 1948, and her husband in 1939. Mother was the last of her family to depart from this life.

She leaves to mourn, one daughter, Clara and husband Frank Kane, Meno Okla.; four sons, Clifford and wife Evelyn of Enid, David and wife Lola of Goltry, Victor and wife Ann of Fairview, and Clarence of Meno; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Susie Kehn; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
