• Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Kaufman, 85, of North Newton, were conducted Friday forenoon at the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge. Rev. Walter Neufeld officiated. Mrs. Kaufman died April 23 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. Her husband, Jacob S. Kaufman, died in 1972. Surviving are five sons, Alvin of Windom, Peter R. of North Newton, Emil, Dan and Kenneth, all of Moundridge; six daughters, Mrs. Olga Waltner of Moundridge, Mrs. Arlene Ediger of Henderson, Neb.; Mrs. Lucille Henry of Hutchinson, Gladys and Marilyn, both of North Newton, and Carol of Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Paul P. Goering of Moundridge; four sisters, Mrs. C. B. Goering of North Newton, Mrs. Ben B. J. Goering, Mrs. Martha Schrag and Mrs. Ernest Krehbiel, all of Moundridge; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

MRS. MARY KAUFMAN
Mary (Goering) Kaufman, daughter of Peter C. and Anna (Waltner) Goering, was born on Aug. 23, 1888 at Moundridge, Kan.
Mother received her elementary education at Pleasant Ridge Grade School. She enjoyed German school and music and served as church pianist for a number of years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed doing needlework and spent many hours reading and writing letters.
Mother was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Eden Mennonite church on May 18, 1902 by Rev. C. J. Goering. She remained a faithful member throughout her life.
On Sept. 14, 1905 she was married to Jacob S. Kaufman at Moundridge, and they were permitted to share life's joys and sorrows for 67 years until his passing in October of 1972. Father and mother retired and lived in North Newton for 15 years. Mother had been a resident at the Memorial Home at Moundridge for the past 10 months. After a short illness her death came on April 23, 1974 at Mercy Hospital.
This union was blessed with 12 children, five sons and seven daughters. Her husband, one daughter, one daughter-in-law and two grandchildren preceded her in death. Surviving are Alvin and Geneva, Windom, Kan.; Pete and Linda, North Newton; Emil and Lillie, Dan and Viola, Kenneth and Meribeth, Olga and Carl Waltner, all of Moundridge; Arlene and Henry Ediger, Henderson, Neb.; Lucille and Arthur Henry, Hutchinson; Marilyn and Gladys, North Newton; Carol, Fresno, Calif., 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters.
