Widow of Long-Time Editor, Church Leader Dies in Virginia

Harrisonburg, Va. — Mrs. Mary Catherine Kauffman, 89, widow of the well-known Mennonite editor and church leader, Bishop Daniel Kauffman, died here Aug. 10. She had been a resident of the Virginia Mennonite Home for 10 years.

The former Mary Shank of Morgan County, Mo., she was married to Daniel Kauffman in 1902. They took up residence at Scottdale, Pa. where he was editor of the Gospel Herald from its beginning until his death in 1944.

The body of Mrs. Kauffman was taken to Scottdale, where the memorial service was conducted on Aug. 13 at the Scottdale Mennonite Church.
