CARL EDWARD KAUFFMAN

Carl Edward Kauffman, son of Alpha and Ida (Bontrager) Kauffman, was born at Haven, Kan. on Sept 4, 1944, died Sept. 15, 1967, in Singapore, following a traffic accident, aged 23 years, 11 days.

Carl had just completed three years of service with MCC. He served one year in Hong Kong, and two years as hospital administrator of the Evangelical Clinic in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Carl was baptized on confession of faith and united with the Yoder Mennonite church on March 27, 1955. He was an active church member and participated in all the activities of the church, serving as president of the MYF. He graduated from Hesston Academy in 1962 and attended Hesston College the following year. He served as president of his high school senior and college freshman classes. It was during his senior year at Hesston that Carl rededicated his life to Christ and felt committed to foreign service.

Survivors included the parents; three sisters, Norma, Mrs. Dale Martin of Haven, Joyce, Mrs. Bill Brenneman of Warsaw, Ind., Eva, Mrs. Delmer Steider of Denver, Colo.; grandparents, Mrs. Fannie Bontrager of Haven, Kan. and Mrs. Susie Headings, Hutchinson; four nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Yoder Mennonite Church Sept. 25, with Edward Yutzy and Peter Wiebe officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
