text of obituary:
MRS. MARY ANNA KAUFFMAN
Mary Anna (Stutzman) Kauffman was born December 14, 1894, in Brown county, Indiana and died September 4, 1953, at the age of 58 years, eight months and 20 days.
She accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized Sept. 19, 1911, at Hydro, Okla. She was a member of the Conservative A. M. church, Kalona, Iowa at the time of her death.
She was married to Henry J. Kauffman Nov. 21, 1916. To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters. She leaves to mourn her departure her sorrowing husband, her aged father, Noah Stutzman of McMinnville, Ore.; her children, Joe H. of Kalona, Martha, wife of John Stutzman of Kalona, Katie Ann, wife of Lester Miller, Wellman, Esther, wife of A. D. Bontrager, Iowa City, Clara, wife of George Gingerich, Wellman, Jacob M., Keota, Levi H., Iowa City, and Harvey H., Kalamazoo, Michigan; three brothers, Ruben of Hydro, Okla.; Levi, of McMinnville, Oregon and John, of Thomas, Okla.; three sisters, Fannie, Mrs. Simon Yutzy of Arthur, Ill., Susie Mrs. Dan Miller and Esther, Mrs. Menno Swartzentruber, both of McMinnville, Oregon; 22 grandchildren, three uncles and two aunts.
One brother, Eli, one sister Katie, and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
Human hands did all they could, but God called her home. She was always faithful in her Christian life and was concerned about her family and friends.
She passed away suddenly in Oklahoma while she and her husband were on their way home from an extended trip to Arizona and other western states, having spent the past two winters in Arizona for health conditions.
They left Iowa January 4, 1952, and were planning to return in the near future. They were visiting relatives and friends in Oklahoma at the time of her death. Although she had not been feeling her best for some time, she was about her usual household duties until the day before her death, which was apparently caused by gall bladder and heart trouble.
The body was brought to her home in Iowa and the funeral was held Wednesday morning at the Fairview church near Kalona. Burial was made in the cemetery nearby.
