MRS. LINNIE ANN KAUFFMAN
Mrs. Linnie Ann Smucker Kauffman, daughter of Henry and Susan Swartz Smucker, was born in Salem Twp., Champaign County, Ohio on June 4, 1891 and passed from this life at the Mary Rutan Hospital on August 15, 1957, at the age of 66 years, two months and 11 days.
Her death came following a short illness. She entered the hospital on July 27 from an attack of appendicitis. Surgery revealed a ruptured appendix. Complication set in from which she did not rally.
On Feb. 23, 1913, she was united in marriage to Harry Kauffman who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1948.
Surviving are the four children born to this union: Delphos of DeGraff, O.; Elva, Mrs. Howard Yoder, West Liberty; Ruby, Mrs. Arthur Dear, Bellefontaine, O.; Dorthea, Mrs. Robert Headings, Urbana, Ohio.
She also leaves 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer, of West Liberty and Chris of Cable, Ohio; one sister, Mary Hostetler, Greenwood, Del.; one half-brother, Amos Hartzler of So. Charleston, Ohio. One half-sister preceded her in death.
At an early age she became a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member till her death.
She made her contribution continually to her family, community and her church by living true to God, serving her fellowmen and faithfully attending her church on every occasion that it was possible for her to attend.
We mourn the loss of such a faithful mother and member of our community, but realize that at this moment she is enjoying the pleasure of that better land prepared for those faithful to Him.
The funeral service was held at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday, August 18, 1957. Nelson Kanagy officiated assisted by Rev. James Rosner of Bellefontaine.
Interment was made at the Oak Groce [sic Grove] cemetery near West Liberty.
