Called by Death After 28 Years of Blindness
Kalona, Iowa. — Jacob L. Kauffman, one of this area's oldest residents, died April 5 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Fisher. He was 95.
Mr. Kauffman was blind the last 28 years of his life, but was able to make his way about the house and yard. He had lived with the Fishers for 26 years.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Funeral services were held at the Sylvanus Yoder home.
Survivors include four sons three daughters, nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jonas of Hutchinson, Kan; and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Mullet of Albany, Ore. and Mrs. Lydia Nissley of Arthur, Ill.
