Father of Japan Missionary Dies

Belleville, Pa. — Word was received here that Jacob E. Kanagy, 75, of Stuarts Draft, Va. died Nov. 25 at the Waynesboro, Va. hospital. He was the father of Lee Kanagy, serving as a missionary in Japan under the Mennonite (Old) Church.

Also surviving are his wife, the former Mattie Hertzler, 11 other children, 65 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A native of the Allensville community near here, Mr. Kanagy was formerly a farmer and thresherman in this area, moving to Stuarts Draft in 1943. Funeral services were held in the Amish Mennonite church at Stuarts Draft on Nov. 28.
