Martin R. Jost, son of Henry and Katherina Regehr Jost, was born near Hillsboro, Kan. on Jan. 10, 1895. His boyhood days were spent in Kansas where he also attended the Hope Valley School.

He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour from sin as a young man and was baptized upon his confession of Faith by Rev. J. J. Friesen on Oct. 10, 1915 and received into the fellowship of the Gnadenau KMB Church near Hillsboro, Kan. On April 4, 1920 he was united in holy matrimony to Helen Warkentin. During these nearly 44 years of wedded life, the Lord has blessed us richly and given us many hours of sweet fellowship together.

In 1936 the family moved to California to the ranch where we have resided since that time. He loved the fellowship of the saints and so also transferred his letter of church membership to the Zion KMB Church on Feb. 14, 1937, and remained a loyal and faithful member of his church until the Lord took him into His own presence. He was fond of Gospel singing, loved to attend sacred musical concerts, and himself loved to direct congregational singing and choirs, which he did in his younger years.

Ten and a half years ago he suffered a severe heart attack while attending church services. He was confined to the hospital for six weeks but recovered sufficiently so that he was able to farm until two years ago. On Jan. 10, 1964 (his 69th birthday) while at work in his yard, the Lord called him to glory.

He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his wife, Helen Jost; five children, Mrs. Harold (Elfrieda) Kleinsasser of Dinuba, Howard Jost of Fresno, Mrs. Ed (Esther) Ratzlaff of Reedley, Wesley Jost of Reedley, and Milton Jost of Fresno; four sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Abe R. Jost and Jake R. Jost of Reedley, and Frank R. Jost of Hillsboro, Kan., and other relatives and friends. Three brothers, three sisters and one son preceded him in death. — The Family.
