Mrs. Johnson was the former Martha Shirk, daughter of Warren and Grace (Rutt) Shirk, who are serving as Mennonite missionaries in Alabama. The Shirks are former residents of Lancaster County, and Martha graduated from Lancaster Mennonite School.

Besides her parents, she is survived by eight brothers and sisters, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Rutt of Route 1, Manheim, Pa.

Funeral services were held at the Brewton, Ala. Mennonite Church.

Daughter of Missionaries Killed in Alabama

Lancaster, Pa. — Relatives and friends in Lancaster County received the tragic news that Mrs. Russell Johnston, 23, of Atmore, Alabama was fatally injured in an auto accident there on Feb. 3. Her husband was seriously hurt in the same crash.

Mrs. Johnson was the former Martha Shirk, daughter of Warren and Grace (Rutt) Shirk, who are serving as Mennonite missionaries in Alabama. The Shirks are former residents of Lancaster County, and Martha graduated from Lancaster Mennonite School.

Besides her parents, she is survived by eight brothers and sisters, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Rutt of Route 1, Manheim, Pa.

Funeral services were held at the Brewton, Ala. Mennonite Church.
